A 30-day marketing plan for a small Shopify store
· 2 min read · MAALI team
Most marketing plans fail because they're too big. If you run a small store, you don't have time for twelve channels. You need a short list of things that make the biggest difference, in the right order, that you can actually finish.
This plan assumes a few hours a week and no paid ads. Adjust it to your store, but keep the order: fix what loses sales first, then build things that bring in new shoppers.
Before you start: find your biggest gaps
Spend 20 minutes on a quick audit: Shopify store audit: a 20-minute checklist. Write down the three biggest problems you find. They'll shape the plan.
Week 1: capture and trust
Make sure the visitors you already have can trust you and stay in touch.
- Turn on email capture, with a reason to sign up (a welcome offer, early access or a useful guide).
- Set up a welcome email that delivers what you promised: The Shopify welcome email.
- Turn on abandoned checkout reminders: Abandoned cart emails for Shopify.
- Show reviews on product pages, or start asking recent customers for them.
Week 2: product pages
Your product pages are where the sale happens.
- Pick your top 5 to 10 products by sales or visits.
- Add photos so each has at least four: angles, details, in use: How many product photos does a product need?
- Rewrite their descriptions to answer every question: How to write product descriptions that sell.
- Write their meta descriptions: How to write meta descriptions.
Week 3: get found
Now help more shoppers find you.
- Fix SEO basics: homepage title and meta description, one main heading, alt text on product photos.
- Add intros to your main collections: the collection page quick win.
- Submit your sitemap in Google Search Console.
- Publish your first helpful article, answering a question your customers ask before buying: Shopify blog ideas that bring in shoppers.
Week 4: social and repeat
Keep people coming back.
- Post three times this week on the one social channel your customers use most. Use your new product photos.
- Send a "new this week" or "best sellers" email to your list.
- Publish a second article.
- Look back: which changes moved sales or sign-ups? Keep what worked, and plan next month.
Keep it going
After 30 days, the habits matter more than the plan: one article a week, a regular email, new photos with every new product, and a quick look at your numbers every Monday. Small, steady improvements compound.
