Connecting Google Search Console and Analytics

Connecting Google lets MAALI show you which searches and pages bring people to your website, start article ideas from searches you nearly rank for, and add clicks and visits to your Monday report. Access is read-only: MAALI can't change anything in your Google accounts.
Before you start
You need a Google account with access to at least one of:
- Google Search Console with your website verified. If you haven't set it up, follow Google's steps to add and verify your site first. New sites take a few days to show data.
- Google Analytics 4 with a property for your website.
Only workspace owners can connect Google.
Connect
- In MAALI, open Connections and click Connect Google.
- Choose the Google account that has access to Search Console or Analytics.
- Google shows what MAALI is asking for: read-only access to Search Console and Analytics, and your email address. Leave both boxes ticked and click Continue.
- Back in MAALI, pick your Search Console property and your Google Analytics 4 property, then click Save.
What you'll see
On Marketing → Results:
- Google Search: clicks, impressions and click rate for the last 28 days, your top searches with their average position, and your top pages.
- Almost on page one: searches where you already appear just below the first page. These are the quickest wins, and new article ideas aim for them first.
- Website visits: sessions over the last 28 days compared with the 28 before, where visits come from, and your top landing pages.
Your report email (weekly, every two weeks or monthly, as you choose in Settings) adds your clicks from Google Search and your visits for the period.
Disconnect
Click Disconnect next to Google under Connections. MAALI deletes the saved access and also revokes it with Google. You can also remove MAALI any time from your Google account's Security → Third-party access page.
Troubleshooting
- No properties in the lists: the Google account you chose doesn't have access. Disconnect, then connect again with the right account, or ask whoever owns Search Console to add your account.
- "Google access was revoked": someone removed MAALI's access in Google. Connect again.
- No search data yet: Search Console data lags about two days, and new sites take a few weeks to appear.
